Indicators
-Indicator selection varies, and is developed based on national guidelines and region-specific challenges
-Each country selects a core package of simple and applicable measures, mindful of data collection processes
-Measures address adult and pediatric HIV care and treatment, and may include prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV (PMTCT), well-child and maternal child health (MCH) indicators
Each country is encouraged to select at least one unique indicator in addition to its core package.
Namibia included indicators such as weight monitoring & screening for alcohol use, food security screening and weight monitoring Haiti has chosen several indicators that ensure HIV-exposed and infected children are prescribed cotrimoxazole prophylaxis and eligible HIV-infected pregnant women receive ARV prophylaxis Mozambique recently incorporated an indicator measuring the uptake of post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) for health care workers who have been exposed to HIV at work All countries chose a number of indicators for their first round data collections that were feasible to implement at the clinic level, to reduce the workload for data collection and set realistic goals for data submissions.
